RichardIOIThe Irish AIPO team clinched their first medal in five years at this year's IOI contest in Taipei, Taiwan, today after 2 days of competitive programming.

Richard Tynan, who scored a total of 257 points out a possible 600 points, will be awarded a bronze medal at the IOI Medal Ceremony on Saturday. The other guys weren't as fortunate as Richard with their solutions to six extremely hard algorithmic programming problems. To put this result in context, our nearest neighbour, Great Britain, achieved one bronze medal as well from their team of four students, so congratulations should go to Richard. The AIPO teams scores from the two days can be seen in the table below.

The final scores of all 311 school going students from 82 countries can be seen here:

A full report on the AIPO team at this year's IOI will follow on the AIPO website.

Many thanks to Fidelity Investments and DCU for supporting the AIPO.
